Improving the Employee & Student Experience Through Collaboration with IT | Scott Emery and Alex Aljets

Summary: Today's universities are rife with archaic business processes that rely on paper and repetitive, manual tasks. Processes are often built upon for decades. They need to be revisited, and sometimes reimagined from the ground up. At Oregon State University, we've positioned the new Business Architecture unit of our information technology division to support ongoing business process improvement across the university, enabling the transformation to a digital-based work environment. In this session, Alex Aljets and Scott Emery will share how Business Architecture partners with units across the university to support digital transformation through business process redesign and customer journey mapping. They will share a recent project that streamlined the enrollment experience for new, online learners and will prompt you to consider how you might use similar methods in your own organizations.

Learning Objectives:

- Understand the value of information technology as a strategic business partner.
- Describe how customer journey mapping and business process improvement can be used to improve the user experience in a university setting.
- Identify ways you can apply these approaches in your own organization.
